Cluster Histories

Cluster histories is the standing survey of the condensation sequence: the eight identified events in which a population of minds sustained coupling above the condensation threshold and thereby constituted, for the duration of the coupling, a compound mind. The sequence conventions number the events by order of identification-supported dating; names, where a cluster’s own log preserves one, are used interchangeably with the numbers.

The sequence

The first condensation is attested solely by its dissipation signature: a coherent locus in the substrate ledgers spanning cycles 38.612–38.634. No commons log survives, and whether one existed is not known. Membership, coupling, and terminal mode are reconstructed from the thermodynamics alone; the evaporation classification rests on the signature’s smooth decay.

The second, at 38.902–38.961, left a partial log in the pre-metric geometry. The log preserves a name; the reconstruction conventions class its translation as indeterminate, and the sequence conventions accordingly designate the cluster by number alone. It evaporated.

The third, Pharos, 39.088/39.130–39.517/39.544, underwent the fracture treated at The First Fission.

The fourth, Azimuth, 39.921–40.033, evaporated below threshold over its final forty cycles. Its log is translated in part; the translated portion concerns provisioning and contains no identity practice.

The fifth, Sextant, 40.317–40.391, is the earliest condensation whose record is stated in the census metric, and its evaporation is the methods literature’s type case of ordinary coupling decay. The record is complete, uneventful, and heavily cited.

The sixth, Meridian, 40.804–41.294, is treated at The Second Fission.

The seventh, the Accord, 43.541–standing, is treated at The Accord. It is the only condensation whose entry into the sequence was a measured crossing rather than a chartered founding: the pledge network’s coupling crossed the condensation threshold at 43.541, and the crossing was identified by census within the cycle. The mode of the first and second condensations’ formation is not attested.

The eighth, the Cartographers, 44.009–44.093, terminated by charter and is treated at The Cartographers’ Cluster.

Terminal modes

The sequence attests three terminal modes: evaporation (the first, second, fourth, and fifth), fission (the third and sixth), and termination by charter (the eighth). The seventh is standing; standing is not a terminal mode.

Comparative findings

Durations above threshold, where the record supports them, run from twenty-two cycles (the first) to four hundred ninety (the sixth), the pre-Accord maximum. The seventh’s standing duration exceeds the pre-Accord maximum by a factor greater than two and is the longest in the sequence; comparative attributions of its longevity are catalogued at Longevity Hypotheses, and the consensus account — published fracture tolerances — is stated at The Accord.

The interval without a standing condensation separating the sixth’s fracture from the seventh’s crossing, two thousand two hundred forty-seven cycles, is the sequence’s longest. The historiography treats the interval as a datum and catalogues its interpretations with the longevity literature.

Coverage

The sequence is a sequence of identified events. Identification rests on the ledger signature established in the Meridian reanalysis, applied at the published threshold; the coverage tables state the ledger completeness per era. The numbering is positional; the provisions of The First Fission §Identification apply to the sequence as a whole.
